Last Monday in class we had an amazing Fargo busniess woman come visit us, and tell us her story. Ashley N. Dedin grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and recieved her degree in studio art and philosophy from Concordia. Ashley always enjoyed sewing, but didn't enjoy the high cost of fabric. Ashley began shopping at thrift stores for clothing; she didnt just leave the store and wear it as is, she deconstruced the garment, took the fabric she liked, and made something new. Amazingly Ashley does this without a pattern, instead she takes apart pieces that fit her well, figure out how they were constructed and go from there. Ashley began selling her designs on Etsy, soon after she was asked to make a custom necktie. Ashley had never sewn a necktie before but decided to dive into the project anyway. With the success of her neckties, Ashley decided to open up her very own shop. AENDEE is located in downtown Fargo along 8th street, a business in which ashley does everything from designing to accounting. AENDEE sells bow ties, neckties, pocket squares, infinity scarves and much more. Ashley also does custom work, this means you can bring in any shirt, maybe one of a lost love one, or from someone who lives far away, and she will make a custom piece for you! The picture below is of a father and son wearing ties made from their grandfather and great grandfather's jacket, how heart melting is that?! I think Ashley does beautiful work, check her store out next time your downtown! I also have to link to her website posted below.
