You don't have a girlfriend

Disclosure: This post features words some may consider inappropriate.  If you don't like approaching serious subjects with a touch of comedy don't read me.  This is a serious subject that needs to be addressed, whether you consider it taboo or not. Ok lets do this!
Slut shaming. I'm over it. We had a discussion in class today about why it's ok for men to have so many sexual partners and it makes them "cool" or more "manly", but if a woman were to do the same they would be considered a slut or a whore. The professor asked why that is. A boy, notice I didn't say a man, asked "are you sure you wanna know" our professor said yes. And the boy said "Cause girls can get wrecked and guys can't." STFU you didn't just say that, every woman is
now after you.  Uhh hey guy I don't think that's what the professor was aiming for...  Here's the first two thing that went through my head 1.If we're using stereotypes I stereotype you as having a serve case of fuck boy.  2. There's no way that someone like that could have a girlfriend when there head seems to be lodged that far up their rear end.  I'm not the type of girl to give attention to such idiotic words, but I've had the intention to write a slut shaming post, and if that wasn't a sign to do it today I don't know what would be. Plus I have a seven page paper to write and that's not gonna happen until I get that door knob out my head. Before I even knew what the words meant, I wondered why there wasn't boy equivalent words for slut, whore what have you. Really like when did this start? When did we start degrading the sex that gives her body to your growing child and then delivers it! Like seriously moms are boss'es and they deserve endless praise.  Most of you may know Amber Rose as Kanye's ex girlfriend, but shes also a hip hop model, actress, and fashion designer.  Through out the year she has became a major advocate for ending slut shaming, and is doing her best to change the "walk of shame" to the "stride of pride!"  I've attached a video that describes some of Rose's strides in promoting self love and getting rid of the haters, Do I suggest sleeping around, no I don't. But what I do suggest is BEING A NICE FREAKEN PERSON!!! Mean people are mean and they suck.  Part of me didn't want to write this because I didn't want to give attention to the boy in my class, but it brought me to a reality that there really are people that think like that, and that needs to stop.  Ok rant over I hope you enjoyed this little sassy post of mine :) I am female hear me roar!! ok I'll stop now sorry.

Is This Real Life???

http://bit.ly/1GZRYtq

Attention Attention scrunchies are back!! If you would have asked me ten years ago or even 2 years ago, I would have said this would not happen and any owners should take action and light all the scrunchies in their possession on fire, and then bury them in an unmarked location.  Yes, I had a strong opinion on the hair accessory, but at the time I wasn't as fond of and appreciative of 90's fashion and 90's grunge as I am today.  Should everyone go out and buy this blast from the past 90's gem? No not really.  Scrunchies are some what of an acquired taste, like fancy cheese or flaming hot Cheetos. But if your ready to dive into scrunchies here's some tips! Affordable and stylish scrunchies can be found at H&M, American Apparel, Forever 21 and even Target. I wish I would have wrote this in the fall so I could suggest velvet scrunchies.  I absolutely adore them! But for spring and summer I love to see floral and pastels during the day and satins and darker colors for going out at night.  Now how to style your hair with a scrunchie.  My favorite way to wear a scrunchie is in a top knot.  First because I love top knots, and second, it gives others a good view of your newest accessory.  The second way I've seen scrunchies being worn is in half ponies, what I like to call the Ariana Grande.  Personally I feel this looks best on people with

short hair (maybe to your collar bone or just brushing the tops of your shoulders) but I have seen women with longer locks pull it off as well.  And finally the high pony! The high pony is acceptable and adorable but if you wear it on the side of your head I will call you out in public, only if I know you though I'm not that terrible of a person.

You Cant Always Get What You Want

Great song true words. Sometimes life has a way of opening up the clouds, and shitting on you... That's not a very clever or inspirational saying but you can't tell me it's not true. Like I've mentioned in my earlier posts I've been trying to get an internship for this summer. I applied, and applied, and applied. I even had an interview with a Nordstrom store in Bellevue Washington! A perfect city just a lake away from Seattle, a city I feel in love with three years ago. Nordstrom did call me back, but it wasn't to tell me to start packing my bags. I was sad for a minute but decided to move on. The call came at a time where everything wrong seemed to be happening. But in a way maybe that was a good thing. It showed me what was really important, and made not getting the job not so bad. Of course I'm human and I have my moments of wanting to crawl into a cave and never come out, but once I start to get over whatever seems to be bothering me, I do my best to find a positive in the situation. Sure I want be going somewhere this summer, but I really do love Fargo, why not embrace it while I'm here! I get to stay near my family and friends and I don't have to be away from the kids I nanny for and love so much! I get to spend time with my boyfriend and enjoy Fargo's summer weather.  I can go see Tory hunter bat for the Twins at my favorite stadium. I won't miss some of my best friends 21st birthdays, and most importantly I'll be here for the new Jurassic park movie.  I'll stay here this summer, graduate next year, pack up my trailblazer and drive wherever the wind takes me. I'm a person who likes to have her days, weeks, months and years planed. I'm surprisingly calm with this decision of mine to pack up my bags and hope for the best. Maybe I finally realized I'm only 21, and it would be pretty weird for me to already have my life together.

Galetines Day❤️

Happy Galentines day/week/whatever you want to call it! If you have yet to watch Parks and Recreation, Galentines day (invented by the amazing Leslie Knope) is on February 13th, and its a day where you just hang out with all your wonderful gal pals, single or not.  Even though this year I have a wonderful Valentine, whom I'm excited to spend Saturday with, I'm completely fine with anyone who struggles with this holiday, you know why? Because Valentines days sucks when your alone! Every other year I was the girl that bitched and moaned about how stupid Valentines day is and all it was good for is stimulating the economy blah blah blah continue on with the sob story.  Even if you try really hard to not make a big deal out of it, those pesky little emotions settle in, open a bag of Cheetos, and stay in your heart until they feel they've effectively ruined your day.  I cant guarantee Galentines day will make February 14th any better for those of you avoiding it, but heck I'm giving you a reason to hang out with all your favorite lady people! Here's a couple ideas to have a super awesome Galentines day!
1.  Although its not occurring on February 13th, West Acres Theater is playing Magic Mike for five dollars tonight(Monday)!! No not the new one, hence the reason its only five dollars.  Does this film have any plot or main point? No. Is is fun to go to a movie with a bunch of women screaming over Channing Tatum? Yes! Before you hit up the show kick back and have a drink with your gals! (Only for those 21 and over), my apologies if cant participate in some gal drinking time, but in all honestly I really enjoy the slushies at the theater.  Half blue half red is the best way to go. Ok sorry, back to drinks with the girls. Chillies which is conveniently located near west acres theater has margaritas, wine, and domestic taps for three dollars on Mondays, your welcome.  Do not drink and drive! Please drink responsively and have a designated driver to get you home safely.
2. Option two! Wine and Netflix! You know what lets just make this a 21 and over blog for today.  I seriously love buying a nice bottle of wine (nothing over $12 dollars, I'm in college duh) laying around the house with my roomies and binge watching Netflix.  For wine I suggest Stella Rosa, a sparkling moscato, and for Netflix I suggest Parks and Recreation...obviously
3. Something me and my roommates enjoy doing is going to clay your way.  Make something for a valentine you might have forgotten about, a niece, an aunt, a friend, whoever!
I hope you enjoyed this post I truly enjoyed writing it!!

Tall People Problems

A problem that has haunted me since about 5th grade, my damn long legs.  Remember when you had to transition from junior clothes to ladies/men's, and how difficult and frustrating it was to find a brand and size that would fit your awkward body...That's what it's like every time I try to find jeans. Jeans are either long enough and too big in the waist, or good in the waist but too short.  I'd like to get something off my chest.  Short people always say they have problems finding jeans too... NEWS FLASH! You can get your jeans hemmed for a low price.  Theres about a 1/100 chance I would be able to lengthen a pair of jeans that were too shorrt.  Sorry I needed to say that...  Dont give up on finding jeans that are long enough for you! After years of frustrated shopping I have tips and tricks for finding clothes for your long limbs.
1. Give up on the mall! If your lucky enough to find a store that carrries longs, theres a small chance any of your sizes are left.  The best thing to do is shop online.  Find a store that carries longs, or inseams that go over 33". Go to their website and order a couple sizes to ensure you find a pair that fits.  My number one location for long jeans is Gap.  Not only do their jeans come in long, but extra long! Like what?! Holy moses we found the mother load.  There's actualy jeans from Gap that are to long for me, thats never happened.  Another store that carries longs is American Eagle.  Some of their bootcut jeans are too short for me but there skinnies and jeggings fit perfectly.  I would solely buy American Eagle jeans but Gap's tend to stay true to size, and keep shape after each wear and wash.
2. If you don't already, learn to love skinny jeans.  It is SO much easier to find a pair of well fit skinnies then boot or ankle cut.  That's all I have to say about that tip, sorry thats not to hard to explain.
3.  Sleeves that are the proper length don't exist.  Although some garments like dress shirts (men's especially) and winter jackets need to go to your wrists, majority of other long sleeve items can be altered to hide the fact their too short.  Even if I'm lucky enough to find sleeves with the proper length, I still roll or push them up out of habbit.  I actually prefer rolled sleeves, it gives an uptight dressy look a touch of fun.
I hope this helps all of my long legged friends! Short friends dont take offense, but seriously your problem is way easier!! ;)

Preparing For a Successful Interview

I have some exciting news that I don't really want to share because I think I'll jinx myself but I'll knock on wood to be safe! I  have two preset video interviews with one of the company's I'm hoping to intern for! This is just the first step of many in hopes that I'll get the job, but I am still very thankful and excited! I wasn't sure what my blog post should be this week, so I put my laptop aside and decided to prepare for my upcoming interviews. Insert light bulb moment.  I'll write a post on the advice I've gotten and experience I've gained in interviewing! Through out my college career you could say I "winged it" when it came to interviews, which if you know yourself well enough can work out in the part time retail world.  But its time to get serious! Freshman year I didnt think anyone would hire me, panicked, and applied to about 10 different jobs, resulting in a lot of interview practice.  That personal experience along with my pre-internship course has given me enough tips and tricks so I can go into these interviews without "winging it".
#1. Know your resume
I use to hate working on my resume, but with all my recent job experience I'm actually quite proud of it, and have really been able to keen in on my best skills as I grow.   Knowing the information on your resume will prepare you for majority of the questions you'll be asked during your interview.  In steed of mumbling a list of things you think that employer is looking for, know what you can offer and sell it!
#2. Find something that sets you apart
This could be a skill, a unique job experience, or even a hobby.  My six years in FCCLA plus two years on student council gave me more than enough experience in public speaking.  This is a task many people don't enjoy, and are quite frightened of.  Do I enjoy public speaking? Not necessarily, but  I will take on the task without hesitation.  A unique job experience I have is being a nanny.  No it has nothing to do with fashion, but its made me one heck of a multi-tasker!  On any given day I can sooth a crying baby, while pouring a glass of milk, and buttering toast simultaneously.  No joke, I've done it.
#3. Be prepared for situational questions
Situational questions are something I've always struggled with.  The only way to really prepare yourself for them is to think of all sorts of different work experiences, good and bad, and take out what you learned.  Doing so will cover a variety of possible situational questions.  Below I provided some common situational questions.  Although its not a difficult questions, "so tell me a little bit about yourself" always puts me in a tissee.  There's about a 99% chance you will be asked this in an interview, the best way to tackle it is to come up with an answer before hand that is smooth yet conversational.
Common Situational Questions
What steps would you take in making a import decision on the job?
Describe a situation where you had to work with a difficult customer.
Tell me of your biggest career success.
Tell me of a time where one of your weakness was tested on the work force.
